If you have a working week to spare, this 5 day trip to Jordan covers the country's headline sights without rushing you between hotels. You stay all four nights in Amman, heading out on a different day trip each morning and returning to the same familiar room each night — an easy arrangement if you would rather not repack every day.

Day two takes you to Madaba, where a sixth-century Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land covers a church floor, then up to Mount Nebo for sweeping views across the Jordan Valley. The afternoon ends at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, where mineral mud and water ten times saltier than the ocean make floating effortless.

The following day heads north to Jerash, the finest surviving Roman provincial city in the Middle East, with a local guide to walk you through the Oval Plaza and Temple of Artemis, then on to the Crusader-era castle at Ajloun and the hilltop ruins of Umm Qais.

The finale is Petra. A scenic drive south brings you to the Siq, the narrow gorge that opens onto the Treasury, followed by the Street of Facades and the Royal Tombs, all carved into rose-red sandstone by the Nabataeans.

Private air-conditioned transfers, guides at Petra and Jerash, and all entrance fees are included. Please note Petra involves considerable walking. Enquire now to check availability.
