12-Day Egypt and Jordan Tour Package - Nile Cruise and Petra
Twelve days, two countries, and the two things people most want from each: a Nile cruise through Upper Egypt, and Petra.
This Egypt and Jordan tour package gives both room to breathe. Cairo opens with the Giza plateau — the Great Pyramid of Cheops, Chephren, Mykerinos, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple — followed by the Egyptian Museum, the churches and synagogue of Coptic Cairo, and the Khan El Khalili bazaar.
Then you fly south to Luxor and board a five-star vessel for four nights on the river. Karnak, the largest religious complex of the ancient world, and Luxor Temple on the first afternoon. The West Bank the next morning: Hatshepsut's terraced temple at Deir el-Bahri, three tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and the Colossi of Memnon. From there the boat sails on to Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan, where the Unfinished Obelisk still lies in its quarry and the Temple of Isis stands on its rescued island.
Jordan follows. A day in the north takes in Umm Qais, looking out over the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee, the Roman city of Jerash, and Saladin's 12th-century castle at Ajloun. Then Mount Nebo, the 6th-century mosaic map at Madaba, and time to float in the Dead Sea.
The finale is Petra — through the Siq to the Treasury, the Street of Facades and the Royal Tombs.
